Rare early audio of Goya's Child (1) performing 'Wasteland' is augmented by atmospheric video of the US South-West including Mesa Verde, The Grand Canyon, Phoenix, Arches National Park etc. taken by myself and my daughter Kara in May of this year. The lyrics originally explored the 'wasteland' of the early 90s Balkans conflict. In this video however, a meditation on Indian history since European conflict (Navajo and Hopi in particular) becomes the main focus. The major European and global conflicts of the 20th century background the piece - as well as the less publicised conflicts that have raged across the 'majority' world during the same period.

This version: Goya's Child (1) - Irvine, Thorpe, Mannix, O'Neill & Y.T - live at Velvets Nightclub (Bendigo) 1993. 'Wasteland' was frequently played at GC (1) gigs from 1991 to late 1993 and all members had in-put into the version of the song played live.
