For Ron and Mark

I close my eyes while lifting my head up to the sky .

Visions of sunflowers immediately flood my thoughts

as a gentle breeze wraps itself around me like a warm embrace.

Birds, too countless to mention, sing a morning

chorus and I smile as a rooster crows out of tune

off in the distance.

I drink in the sweet smell of sea air as a tear escapes my eye

and think, “how I love this place” – although in three days I

will be leaving, heading back to the din and confusion.

I wrestle with the difficulty of returning to the noise of such

a grand city…but for now, I am here…thoughts need travel

no further, for I am truly blessed beyond measure.

Seems like the bustling city is a double-edged sword. I grew up country, and I guess it's what I'll always be. I couldn't imagine living with so many people in a city. You capture the joy of quiet, though.

Restful, calm feelings, you draw me into the atmosphere of a place that brings you peace and positive reflection. Don't give away too much, Dawn, or everyone will want to go...and then 'the din and confusion' will be there, too.
Lovely writing.

It's so good to get away to a place we enjoy and where we can lose ourselves and our thoughts in our surroundings, but all things end and reality awaits. Yet there is beauty all around us to absorb and enjoy no matter where we are. Thoughtful piece, Dawn. Welcome back! ~Hugs, Elizabeth
