The birds are singing hello
I wonder what they see
going from place to place
and roaming from tree to tree
looking at the leaves
and flying in the air
I wonder how they like
going everywhere
They seem to be so free
They seem to be so fragil
maybe a bit like me?
Free to be Gods creation
yet fragil with my cares
What does this poem mean to you?
When I say the word freedom, what image comes to mind? Maybe it brings thoughts of where you live and the freedoms you have or don’t have in your country. Maybe it means having many options in your life. It can mean a variety of things to different people.
For the purposes we are discussing I am going to use freedom in a spiritual and emotional sense. What are some of the ways we tie ourselves up in knots so we aren’t free to join in the dance of life? Is it fear, anger, bitterness, depression, lack of self esteem? It could be any number of things.
I would suggest reflecting on what hinders you from a full and joyful life. Of course life will have challenges and losses, but we can have a over all joyful and meaningful life and even become stronger through our challenges.
For some it might mean going to a councilor or a person you think of highly as a spiritual advisor. There is no shame in seeking help. In fact it can be a first step towards joining in the dance. For some it might mean going on a spiritual retreat to renew or discover your true self.
We have this one life and I believe we are meant to live it with love, joy, and awe of nature. To have the freedom to be our deepest and glorious self! To dance with life!
What does this reflection mean to you?
Thought for today
I will live this day with the freedom to love!
Fly with the wings of freedom
Fly with the gentleness you bring
As a butterfly you exhibit
such wonder and delight
seeming not to have a care
going on your flight
You teach me to
not weigh myself down with
worries ,thoughts, and
feelings that keep me from
flying with the freedom you teach us.
