Death cannot have you.
I mean it!

I need your face.
I need your hands.
I need your voice.
I need your needing mine.

I need your whispered
You are beautiful.
You make me feel alive.
I need that you mean
Every word.

I need your making me shake
With fury
That you turn to laughter
That takes away the sting.
Makes both of us forget
And just love
That we are together
Here and now.

I need your lighting me
On fire.
Hungering and thirsting
For your burnt offerings
You pull with a frown
From that rusting microwave.
Saying, Sorry.
Grab your coat.
Be my treat!

Death can't.   Death can't.
Death can't ever,
Ever,
Have

You.

If only we had the option to say no to death. Alas, it is not in our power. Our option is to prepare.

A blend of us,
So together—
Hither and thither,
You go—I
Sovereign -ly
Flow there … ever
Death, do, never
Curl … hands on
My angel's feathers
So loved

PEA -

A formidable example of Defiance ...
perhaps stronger than a meek plea for help from an unknown source?

And here it is again...such a heart felt poem that it helps me shed another tear for the loss of the man I held so dear. I hope you never lose yours. I hope he keeps burning your dinner and telling you how beautiful you are. . .

Phyllis Jean, life this game we play. And always the player with the winning hand, death. Pursues relentlessly, patiently, victoriously. Your perspective on the game in these words shows the grit required to elude him as long as possible. May peace love and joy be with you my friend. Jon Michael

This is stunning and wonderful Phyllis!

It conveys so well how the human condition is for all of us, and those we love, to be pursued so relentlessly by death.
Blessings, be well,
