Silence is golden, but is it really?

Spoken Silence

by Amber "V" Moonstone

I am silenced,
by the absence of you,
darkend by the choice
of spoken silence.

Coolness of evening
captures the silence,
returning my mind
toward heaviness of solitude.

Heart and soul,
flounders within this silence
searching for safety
on distant shores.

Once again, wondering
why silence has overtaken
the world of sand and sea,
perplexing moments of clarity.

Stumbling toward development
of seeping seaweed
ravaging mindless thoughts
of spoken silence.

Under-developed ties,
makes connections less possible,
perhaps it's the way it is meant to be
within this spoken silence.

sometimes silence can be a blessing in disguise-being filled with so many things we tend to forget the importance of being still and waiting for things to fall gently into place-in our stress filled lives I think silence is a missing ingredient we all need to get back to

A very cool poem. I especially like the mentions of the sea/ocean in this one... "distant shores", "sand and sea" and even "seeping seaweed" stand out to me. The second and third stanzas are my favorites. Interesting how you made somewhat of an aquatic theme out of this one, without including anything about sea or water in the title... I like that.

What a beautiful open hearted poem. It has a very classic feel to it Amber.

Beautifully written verse Amber. It impels contemplation of the various complexities of silence, from the joy of solitude to the underlying reasons of things not spoken.
best regards

Silence can be disheartening at times of indecision, or when it comes from someone when feedback is needed. It can also be a time of cleansing. Your poem portrays some uneasiness with silence. Good write Amber!

For me, Amber, this is so haunting and moving, an inner turmoil and yet with control and with great beauty in the writing.

I love this, it is so beautifully written!
Silence can be a prison, and I am convinced ranting and raging can be so much kinder at times.
Your poem is wonderful! It can comfort and console ~ some use silence from darkness of their spirit. Of course silence is also heavenly of course, but your poem has import and flows!

Silence has a dual personality; it can be heavenly in the right time and space but it can also be deadly and grow like a cancer. Thank you for sharing this thought-inciting write, Amber. Love and best wishes,

Silence can be good or hurtful, they say absence makes the heart grow fonder but then it can make the heart grow weary too. Another great write Amber.

Sometimes silence can be more hurtful than anything. You've portrayed this strange emotion in your poem so well.

silence is a treasure to me
it is in our personal quietude we (at least me)
can find all the clarity we need for our self
if others share with us-wonderful
if they cause turbulence...let us have a crab boil
and make use of the seaweed :)

It all depends on the type of silence it is, doesn't it? Silence is not "always golden," as they say. Excellent writing, Amber.

Quieted season, silence must have its reason...this poem makes a lot of sense and also dangles in something not clear, Amber...sometimes when chaos infiltrates, shores do become distant because the whole purpose is then off from the original's a riddle for sure and think about well.

Sometimes Dear One people stay quiet because they are not sure they are overstepping there boundries. Maybe that is the cause of silence.
