I went for my morning walk today, me and my trusty cane

I don’t go anywhere without it.  I carry it, come sunshine or rain

I use it to steady my encumbered legs as I take my morning stroll

It supports my physical legs but it is Jesus Christ who supports my soul

So I saunter along with my trusty cane and commune with the son of God

I may find myself talking out loud but please don’t think of me as odd

I relish in the morning breeze and the wonders given for me to behold

I may quote a bible scripture or two, the greatest story ever told

The grass is green and the sky is blue and the morning breeze is just a sigh

All gifts for mortals like you and me from the one true God on high

Let us all rejoice in voices strong and tell the world of his unending power

Just like my trusty cane it is Jesus who stands by me even in my darkest hour

I love the way each line settles into the heart and speaks. They say so much if we just listen.

Thank you very much,
