September is derived from a Latin word (septum) that means seven. In the old Roman calendar September used to be the 7th month because the calendar started with March.
The flower for the month of September is the Aster or Morning glory.
The birthstone for September is sapphire.

Upon going on my morning walk I was greeted by September’s cool breeze
As well as being cooler the wind more aggressively blew through the trees
I noticed a few early fallen leaves blowing down the road and out of sight
I am reminded that the trees will soon be multicolored, exciting and bright
They will soon shed their Army greens as they prepare for winters slumber
Wearing multicolored PJ’s of red, yellow and more as it says ta-ta to the summer
Some think of autumn as the end, decline even death or demise
I see all of nature preparing itself for rest and then spring when she once more shall arise
Spring will once again bring summer, then Indian summer, another equinox
We can admire the high clouds watch the birds as they fly south with the flocks
Spring brings summer and summer brings fall and finally winter
There is beauty for us to admire with each season we enter
