Naked Women

Unsure if this works, after a long time without writing.

If I gazed at one thousand
naked women not one
could compare with
the beauty of you

Not one would exhilarate
my heart the way your
disrobed body does

Your discarded clothes
like autumn leaves
naked trees
remain forever
mystifying

Andy, it works for me. There lies herein the maturity of a tenured lover and poet my friend. You have expressed the emotion perfectly and with great passion. May love and peace be with you always my friend. Jon Michael

?Hear that?? "No question: it works" - and then some! This is such a "perfect utterance" that is seems vaguely familiar, as so it should: a classic of all time, if ever there was one. The pitch, balance and emotion are breathtaking. Not one word out of place or wasted. This is a work of crystal clarity, where heart, mind and spirit are brought into an aligned epiphanic instant. This is revelation's pure work. Hallowed words which create hallowed space around them. Complete.

I have to keep re-reading that final stanza. As you say "not sure that this works", are you aware of how naturally brilliant that unseen pause is between the second and third line? Ponder it: it is natural to you and much of your work. An innate poetical device where you link thoughts in this seamless manner without all the clutter of syntax. This is a gift and a strength - work it! :)) xx
