Cinnamon Air

By: Felix L. Perry

Walk with me down a spiced country lane

Painted nature’s shades of orange gold

Wear our old ragged comfy sweaters

Stop to watch the maple leafs dancing bold

I take your hand in mine in flowing unity

Striding side by side in perfect harmony

Never have I felt such strong heart’s content

As the day you gave your love unsparingly

Pause beside a babbling meadow brook

That seems to know the music to our song

Take you in my arms, gaze into your eyes

In a place where our love can’t be wrong

Share our breathes in heart paused kiss

Beneath the slanting sun’s warm last rays

Smile at silhouettes imitating perfect love

Making a memories of our favorite days…

You so capture the "sugar and spice and all things nice" of autumn romance, dear Felix! It warms me right down to my toes and makes me long for cocoa round a crackling log fire again... at any time of day! :)) Another sublime picture-perfect poem. xx

Lovely 'tight' control of verses, meanings, words and song, Felix. From beginning to end. Makes me want to find my cinnamon bottle in the kitchen and sniff it, to feel your feelings, to sepia, to relax and love.
