My Journey Home

My journey home was long each time that we visited
I can still see her in the doorway her greetings told
My memories was home sweet home as I watch
Along the hill country she loved its beauty so bold

It was always a touch of my heart to see her face again
As we visited we talked about family and friends
Mama had a special gift a lady who had love to give
She ruled the household in grace and prayers as we lived

There was hardships in our younger days to overcome
We reached our salvation in our souls to be heard
Daddy done the preaching on the land that he farmed
Made his children mind with the echoes of his words

I long for the hugs as time slips by I miss her so
The miles separated us that grew over the years
You see God there's only one mother in my heart so dear
She was called to her Heavenly home as I shed my tears
