Sky, you surprised me
When you filled your blueness in my eyes
And made them sparkle with reflected starlight
Now, lit up like the flashing brilliance of lightening
They shine this message bright
“I have seen”

Earth, you surprised me
When you wrapped me in your spiritual caress
And with the utmost of forbearance, covered my wounds
Now, as I lie down on the sand, assuaged by your coolness
The pores of my being echo these rumbling sounds
“I have heard”

Fire, you surprised me
When you vanquished darkness with your light
And led me safely to the morning bright
Now, as I lie down on the hearth, blessed by your warmth
Rejuvenated and alive, this truth do my quivering lips unearth
“I have touched”

Wind, you surprised me
When you pored into my lungs, the breath of life
And shook me free from the manacles of strife
Now, as I float free on the clouds of peace
These words does my breath release
“I have felt”

Rain, you surprised me
When you embraced me in your drops
And washed away a world of lies
Now, dancing atop a rainbow
Your droplets congeal my soul, as it cries
“I have loved”

I have seen you
In the compassionate eyes that stare at me from the mirror
I have heard you
In the quakes that shake my being
I have touched you
In the ashes that maketh the Phoenix
I have felt you
In the shadows and silences that mingle in the dark
I have loved you
In the deep silence of my soul

Sky, Earth, Fire, Wind, Rain
You surprised me….
And now I scream out with certainty
My yet sublime identity
Through these surprises have I discovered the meaning of life….
