I’ve Seen Too Much
I’ve seen too much dying
I’ve held too many in the throes of death in my arms.
I’ve witnessed grieving mothers wailing over burnt children,
Their death hastened by wars harm.
Lord, these eyes have seen so much and this heart of mine is worn.
How long, Oh Lord,
How long of these things must I continue to see?
My prayers are never ceasing,
Yet my sleep is stolen in the night through sadden dreams.
I’ve born witness too many times to the shadows of death.
Oh the empathy that my heart feels when I hold love
On the fingertips of one’s last breath.
Oh God, I’ve seen too much_
Oh God, I need Your Grace,
Oh Lord, I need Your touch.
