My definition [of a philosopher] is of a man up in a balloon, with his family and friends holding the ropes which confine him to earth and trying to haul him down. Louisa May Alcott

Rubber Neck

Start my existence on the factory floor
Counted and boxed and shoved out the door
In a bag with my comrades, I'm hung on a peg
Deflated and lifeless, for air we now beg

Here we're trapped in our prison, and wait for the day
For the breath of life that takes slackness away
As we lay here so helpless, all head and a neck
And ponder the future, and sit and reflect

Will we go to a party, a park or a fair?
Will our diet be helium, water or air?
This waiting seems endless, please purchase us soon
The agony and ecstasy of a big blue balloon

A tragic, but short-lived tale. Creatively presented. ;-)

But then, we could be writing about the unemployed..

I guess we all share something in common with that balloon.
Will we be filled with too much food, drink, hot air or ego?
I liked this write.
God bless,
