SCARY THOUGHTS

Song about how we are often afraid of other people simply because of preconditioned emotions that we've learned from bigoted books, movies or songs, religions, etc. Slight vulgarity in the poem.

SCARY THOUGHTS

(c) 2010 J Curry

Scary Thoughts

Scared to say you’re Black folks will think you’re a danger,

Scared to say you’ve got white blood some  brothers may treat you like a stranger,

Scared to say he loves computers masses will call him a lifeless geek,

Scared to ask questions in church, The preacher said: You God damn freak”!

Scared to say  you’re a free slave "da master’s got your cerebellum mangled",

Scared to put out positive songs about  Muslims "10 shows just got canceled"?

Scared to say many Christians are cool "Al-Qaeda wants you dead",

Scared to love yourself motivational speakers loved your cash instead.

More scared to write I love Malcolm X homeland security put me on the watch list,

So you think you’re not contorted,, the system’s got us like a Chubby Checker twist,

Scared to question the leaders and President even though we’ve been mislead,

Scared of the confessional, the priest didn’t keep it quiet called the FBI instead (“he right here”

Scared the bank took our home couldn’t move in,

Scared of terrible songs, so I make songs for grooving,

Will peace die, be Martin Luther King,

Be brave like John Brown but I’m scared to swing!

People tease cause others are chubby with  braids,

they lose weight, same people say “She must have AIDS”,

I ain’t scared of writers, who quote what I say and wrote,

Not scared of Rakim tell Eric B “ahh ahhh let me clear my throat”

Ain’t fraid of Kanye, I blaze like a sauna,

Not scared of Lady Ga Ga, but love me some Madonna,

Scared of psychiatrist, who’d say:  Esse you insane,

Scared of Tay Zonday but not afraid of Chococolate Rain.

Oil firms making eco-unfriendly switches,

Charge us for solar   ain’t that a bitches.

Don’t gamble with Wall Street, they gat loaded dice,

Not scared of MMA but I’m scared of Kimbo Slice.

Scared of how you hug me, and the last time you slap me,

Scared of the DNA test, Charles Manson is my pappy?

Some Scared of hip hop? They’re not all gang bangers,

Scared to sing about peace, Simon said: You call yourself a singers?

Scared to lift my cranium to look in the mirror,

Whose thinking bad stuff behind.

I’m actually happy with my life,

But I’m scared of what’s in your mind.

Reverbnation (Sir Mask, group I write for and produce)
