My best friends are made of paper

I am an avid reader by choice
I enjoy my travels through time
To places I have never been before
But with my books: they become mine

I have a few books that are dog-earred and worn
I have read them over and over again
You know the ones I mean
The ones that are tattered and torn

The ones that can bring your laughter
And then make you cry
Turn your heart with love so tender
While making you sigh

I love all my books: I have my own library
Shelves and shelves of my favorite friends
All alphabetically arranged
So I can find them again and again

If you have the chance
To travel to faraway lands
Sail on ships at sea
Walk hand in hand on the sand
Wouldn't you do it?--Read a book, you can

Absolutely agree! Books are passports to foreign lands and introductions to interesting characters. Solace and inspiration,
books are .. well, ... everything! :-) Well done, Kathleen!

YES! Reading can just take me away! There are days when I should be working, I choose to read instead. I can sit and read for days!

i like this kathleen...it was the greatest gift i ever gave my kids...the love and magic of reading...exploring new places and thoughts through books. i didn't realize it at the time...simply a thing i grew up with and inately passed on...they've all come back to name it as a gift i gave...now i see them doing the same w/ theirs. thank you for naming them as 'friends' that you can find 'again and again

I wrote a poem some years back on this same subject and I could not agree more with how books can stir your imagination and take you to places you may never be able to go to. Well done, Kathleen.
