A Royal Visitor (Ode to an Unknown Cat)

Wouldst thou but deem me worthy
to stroke thy regal head...
Or find my pillow soft enough
to grace my meager bed.

Couldst thou be coaxed
with bowl of milk,
a tidbit rare,
or bed of silk...

Your willing servant
I would be
if thou couldst find
some need of me.

Alas, my ploys are all in vain ~
your eyes regard me with disdain.
Though gifts upon thee I wouldst heap,
You take your leave
in
one
grand
leap!

Heeeheee!!!!! Cats always have their own mind. They make their own decision and cannot be coaxed or enticed into anything.

Connie, Connie, this is Wonderful! I really like that you wrote it from a sense of
true esteem in the experience of the cat--who are we to define them as "stray."
