I do believe in God,
and in the continuation
of each existence
beyond bodily death.
Not because a book tells me to,
or another man tells me to,
or my parents told me to.
because I can feel the wind on my face,
because I can smell the sweet spice
of walnut trees in the Autumn air,
because I've marveled in the softness
of a fair woman's skin,
because I've heard the steady thrum
and vibration of all life,
and because I have tasted a kiss
that was so very much more
than the sum of it's parts.
