He believes in love blindly

like a child

innocent, pure

Her lullaby now a whisper

barely heard over his own pulse

His heart

cold as steel

tempered, brittle

Autumn falling from his eyes

 

there

 

is

 

something

 

wrong

 

 

with the taste of his tears
