Not far away is Christmas Eve
But there's no snow as far as I can see
For Christmas I don't wish for much
only a snowflake my cheek to touch.
A big tree and Christmas stocking
and please for this year some easy cooking.
Happy children playing in the snow
and from the fireplace a tender glow.
Music, red lights and a sweet scent of cinnamon
hot wine punch, starry sky and long holiday for everyone.
While we enjoy our Christmas table
Santa sits still waiting in the stable.
After dinner and Donald Duck
he scares the children into chock
when he enters with all the Christmas presents
and wheeze his famous sentence.
But after a hectic while and when the thrill for Santa overcomes
the children in their gifts a deeper interest found.
Again the house become silent for a while
children are sitting by the tree with big a smile.
The older take a breather and a glass of merlot
before we sing the last Christmas carol.
Soon another year has past
and all its memories will last.
Even if we are relieved when Christmas days are over
and fear if all the purchases has a bank cover
It won’t be long until we wish it could start all over again
and hopefully then with you my dear friend!
