T'was the week before Halloween.
The moon was full,
No cloud to be seen.
Ben and Sally were playing in the yard,
Chasing fireflies very hard.
One arrived that was very bright,
And on Ben's finger he did light.
Ben began to laugh and so did Sally,
Then the firefly started laughing too.
First thing were the wings it grew,
Much like a Dragon Fly.
The children then were much amused,
As it's tail turned very, very blue,
And became much longer too.
Ben got a bit afraid and shook it off his finger.
They watched in horror as the little Firefly's head became,
Almost as large as a softball,
And grew very big, glowing red fangs.
They screamed and ran but it was too late.
The Firefly Beast was after them,
Of that thing they were very sure.
They looked to to see if they could make it,
To the house back door.
Too far they thought while running from the Beast,
He wasn't as fast as they were,
So at least to them, thank God,
That was some relief.
Into the woods so fast they ran,
The Beast a'buzzin and blinking blue,
Faster and faster, so close behind.
Then a highway they ran across,
Barely missed by a car, on they ran.
The beast he saw them run across,
And followed them with fangs agow.
Then in the trees and high above,
The Crows began to "Caw."
Then came along the semi-truck,
He never even saw.......

|"SPLAT"! A life ending event for the demon firefly. Poetic justice if ever it existed Walt. Let the word go out. "Children have the power and ability to defeat demon dragon flies with their backyard smarts". Love and peace to you my dear friend. Jon Michael|
