Never Gonna Happen, Is It?

Standing in the rest room

Through broken windows

I watch you walk down the alley

You and me coulda been something

You had him and I had her

We both watched each other

Feeling what might’ve been

But not ever about what is

My eyes were on you

But I had someone else

You gave me your eyes

And I fingered your face

You keep walking on past

I keep watching from within

You turn and smile my way

It’s hard to be me and you.

The burning sting of non-event. The world of shifting strangers, quiet desperation, missed adventure, the what if's.....what a great poem!! I love this.
