The 395 between southern California and Lake Tahoe remains a favored roadtour; it is especially wonderful this time of year...

~California 395~

gloried open road

nature's panorama calls

vast expansiveness

ancient mountains worn

burning deserts team with life

death's mirage at play

elevations climb

volcano gods in repose

geothermals steam

rugged mountain pass

rivers carve steep canyon lands

lakes bejeweled charm

nature's spectacle

landscapes formed of thrusting force

creation sublime

Beautifully evoked in both image and atmosphere, Carolyn... How I long to visit for real! You convey the majesty so well here... and capture wonderfully the mystery, too. xx

I see you enjoyed that ride up the 395. There is a lot Mother Nature unfolds along its milemarkers and you have given it a fine description. My favorite though of all lifetime is 101. Beautifully written.

Beautiful eloquence!
For me, your ending is incredibly powerful and well, okay sensual! "landscapes formed of thrusting force / creation sublime"
Best Wishes,
Christine

A lovely ode to a wondrous area, and you make me want to visit it once more.

Love the imagery in this, Caroline.

Again, Carolyn,
that confidence making each word and phrase count, no frill, no waste, nothing frivolous to divert or distract (or annoy)...
and the images and certainly the reader are the better for it.

John
