Last Horizon(I Never Gave Up On You)

I held my breath, to be as still as I could possibly be
to linger upon the background of natures riddle
a secret situated between phases of the moon
as an eloquent stranger in this forest of ill regrets
I yearned an answer that I knew would not come
I wanted a promise or guarantee that did not exist
I searched for any and all hints of what could be
but know this well, that I never gave up on you

The riddles of nature, who can decipher them?
Do fools dare to nurture a flame in this dark forest
where regrets stalk hearts and hope is a memory?
Hearing your breath drift across a silent half moon
I knew you were waiting to possess its fullness
Like a ghost in pursuit of questions yet unasked
you haunted my soul with undulating answers
assuring my heart you had never given up on me

Elusive was the dream that would sweep us away
if even for a moment that we alone could share
to explore the unlimited boundaries of our world
encompassing the most intimate of expressions
and the fruits of such a passionate love as this
It was obvious to us that it would not evaporate
after all of the good and bad that came and went
but know this well, that I never gave up on you

Though dreams may well be ethereal, elusive,
the granite solidarity of love will never evaporate
nor dissolve in vast volcanic fires of cold time
It melts, morphs, progresses, purified by adversity
Refined to perfection in a furnace of patience
Waiting its appointed time to shine once again
After the good diminished and the bad battered us
We could still touch and I never gave up on you

We would not have any control of frail destiny
for we would be but passengers in a rigid fate
although loyal and true to our own cast lives
in roles that betrayed our own battered hearts
it served only to lend such a sacrifice of love
as an ally to the beliefs we would hold as true
to strengthen the bond that was always there
but know this well, that I never gave up on you

Honor is a tangible thing, saturated with cruelty
testing the most noble and resolved devotion
In no way compassionate to the sacrificial soul
Not dictated by honor, love lives, it breathes
without the permission of loyalty or obligation
Clothed in the mysterious garment of infinity
it braves Winter like a perpetual spring solstice
Never giving up, unafraid of the last horizon

I see you waiting so distant in the last horizon
for the changes that have frozen in the cold
and all that has slowly thawed is your heart
just as bare Winter approaches once again
time becomes but an enemy of lust and want
and it separates what is real from the fiction
that cruelly loses its grip in the face of burden
but know this well, that I never gave up on you
