The bane of the evening news......neverending car chases

One foot on the gas pedal

One foot on the brake

Cop car in the rear view mirror

I can’t catch no break

Cookie jar has a narrow neck

I’ve got a big fat hand

The sum of all this madness

Is far more than I had planned

News chopper flying overhead

Observing this crazy race

It’s all about the ratings

Nothing beats a cop car chase

I can hear them blathering now

What is he wanted for?

Despite the stupid speculation

Viewers keep hanging on for more

I know what they're hoping for

Tales of the wild west

Shootouts on the freeway

Keeps the audience impressed

Guess I better pull over now

This is going way too far

It’s the last time I take a cookie

From the Police Chief’s cookie jar

Itís all about the ratings,
Nothing beats a cop car chase;

Except perhaps, yet another mass shooting,
Mayhem and violence - we, the human race.

Why some people are behind the wheel, I don't know...Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise in Cannonball Run...Farrah Fawcett's nipples would have caused me to crash! I'd love to drag the gut with you and Eileen! Crank up the tunes Sammy Haggar I Can't Drive 55! And some Beach Boys 409 and Jan and Dean Deadman's Curve. Yea!

Living in Southern California, your wonderfully so true poem is not an unusual circumstance but a daily occurrence that so often gets national news coverage.

It all started with OJ Simpson. The Juice Legacy. Now we have to endure this every week. Wish they'd cover the off-shore banking theft of the US economy the same way. Thanks for the laughs!!
Try the bankers next, they could give you advice, if you know what I mean. Thanks for the ride, it was better than the noose, oops a Freudian slip........ Blessings! Jasmin Horst
