A Heart Blink

Momma, Daddy just died

October the ninth

Why do you cry?

Stricken with Alzheimer’s

How do you comprehend?

I can’t, it’s now two thousand ten.

Momma, you missed him

Thirty-six days in between

Did your journey begin?

Two years later

I keep wondering why

Why, your face wouldn’t lie.

Momma, November fourteenth

Thirty Six days later

Your death, in a heart blink.
