"Closeted and goitered faked and baked and brewed"

The Madmen

for Lydia Aswolf

Have you seen the madmen walking
Men with something on their minds
Heard the angry sad men talking
Less aheads and more behinds?

Walking straight ahead into the past
Talking straight behind into the when of then
Having been but never meant to be again
Men for whom the endgame cannot come too fast

Ignorance in action rude reality
Closeted and goitered faked and baked and brewed
Laughing at us even as we help them be
Men for whom money is their favorite food

Have you heard the madmen talking
Less aheads and more behinds?
Seen the angry sad men walking
Men with nothing on their minds?

Straight ahead off the cliff after us behind
Blindly having bought and paid now for the blind

confusing, Steve... And yet.
I wonder. You mesmerized me with this one.
God bless,
