Can you wrap your mind
around a 'Tongue-Twister' -
or is it a 'Mind-Bender?'
perhaps a 'Twisted Sister?'
how say you - 'Madame?'
or is it 'Mister?'

Mind-Benders?
© - Tom Hyland - 10/8/10
If One studied at Cornell,
T’would know the difference T’ween -
A Wheat Kernel and an Army Colonel,
And One’s own Colon!
Something that’s just Normal -
May be called General -
Also - an Army Officer - Pray Tell -
Isn’t Language Swell?
A Promotion for a Colonel
May make him/her a General -
Jot it in your Journal -
Your Computer Core also has a Kernel!
A Knot on a Tree Trunk is a Burl -
A Kentucky Tobacco Leaf is a Burley -
Someone Strong and Robust is Burly -
So Saith: Larry, Moe, and Curly!
Noisy, bustling activity is - Hurly-Burly -
A Helicopter is a Bird that is ‘Whirly.’
If you are a Nut - then you are ‘Squirrelly.’
On That Note - let’s End Early!

I love the way you "whip" language and words around, Tom. Thank you for sharing your wit and humor. Love and peace to you,

Tom,
Great play on words! It also shows how complicated the English language can be.
