A Simple Man

He was my Daddy

A simple man

Spoke his mind, never ran.

Articulating his words

Between his labored breath

Two words filled my head.

I didn’t want to hear

Even though I cared

I didn’t want to be there.

Two simple words

They could not be undone.

I wanted to run.

Daddy, I was afraid

Even though I prayed

One day it will be okay.

'One day it will be okay', that's the line to bear in mind, Deborah Ann.

Lovely sentiments directed to your Dad.

A lot said in few words, although I am not sure what the two words were, I know that the strength and love you had made you survive and hold onto the love you had for him.
