What makes Tolkien's heroes so great and his villains so terrible? How do we rise to hero status or fall into corruption?..

"In the garden, Autumn is, indeed the crowning glory of the year, bringing us the fruition of months of thought
and care and toil. And at no season, safe perhaps in Daffodil time, do we get such superb colour effects as
from August to November."
- Rose G. Kingsley, The Autumn Garden

I woke up this morning, about eight A.M. I’d say
I looked out at cloudy skies and breathed, “Another cloudy day”
It looked rather gloomy; at least it started out that way
Then the sun made a late arrival and said, “Sorry for the delay”
It was shining brightly as if to say
Better late than never. Come on, let’s play
A faint breeze was blowing moving fallen leaves every
Which way
It created a spiral of colors; a most beautiful display
The breeze kept them moving about; a colorful array
I began to realize this was going to be a beautiful day
The temperature warmed up to about fifty degrees I’d say
It made me realize not to trust the picture the early morning may portray
The clouds floating in the blue sky joined in to play
But all too soon the sun was sinking in the west to slowly fade away
Even the sunset, though added to this wonderful cabaret
I found myself whispering quietly, “it’s been a great day
