The announcement of the wedding of Prince William and Kate brought so much joy to so many British royal watchers around the world of which I am one.As a child I was fascinated by the story of the queen and the monarchy.I happen to be one of those who love Britain because of the glamour and fascination of the royal family. For many it may not matter but for the British people it does.In this time of gloom there is nothing as cheering as the story of promise kept by the young royal to his beauty after long nine years of courtship. This shows that true love still exists. This poem is culled from my new book "Weep Not my Child," The Heart cry of a mother" by Chinyere Nwakanma
FOR PRINCE WILLAM AND KATE
I heard the news
And it is good
Even in this gloom
And it is true
I heard the news
And it is new
I heard the news
And it is cool
I heard the news
But no one knew
It will soon be true
Not even the bookies
It’s now in the history books
I heard the news
And we ate some cookies
To celebrate even with our cooks
That the Prince
Will soon marry his Princess
I heard the news of promises
Kept and hope made to be
I heard the news
Of faithfulness, joy and love
Everyone was happy
Even the baby in his nappy
I heard the news of true love
That was meant to be
And it is now true
I don’t need a seer
To tell me if it will last
I don’t need a beer
But I am happy at last
That the Prince will soon be
With his beauty
