Sometimes love isn't what we expect it to be

Tear Stained Love

There was a time I loved you beyond life

I put all my aspirations behind me

Your ambitions and dreams to fulfill

No matter how long it would be

But it was not to be a fairy tale love

There were no glittering stars up above

You had other things on your mind

For me there was never any time

It was all about you right from our first date

I never realized it until it was too late

I gave my all and you took it in

Now I don’t know where I begin

My pillow stains with tears of love

As each night I dream my dreams

Nothing is as it should be

There is no eternal love for me

Temper and abuse were your traits

I found out much too late

No feelings seeped through your tough skin

Your tenderness and love I would never win

Leaving was my best choice

I needed to be free and use my voice

No more tears will I ever shed for you

No more unmarked avenues

What a heartbreaking love story. And you are correct, love isn't always as we expect it to be. Wonderful write.

So sad when love is one sided, so good when one finds the courage to end it.

This speaks so well of a broken heart Kathleen. Hang in there until the right one comes along; the one who will appreciate all you have to give.

Peace and Blessings,

As always Kathleen you put your heart and soul into your writing and it shows...beautiful.

We all need a love doctor at times to give us advice on the best partner. There ain't no cure for love, Leonard Cohen sang it well.

I hope you are looking back, Kathleen, from a place of happiness!

Heck! I sure can empathise.
It is an insane pain when the "love of your life" is selfish, arrogant, uncaring and perpetually blind, living in their private, tiny world.

I really think there are people who do not know how to love; it is a great affliction and capable of doing much harm. Thank you, Kathleen. Love and best wishes,

Kathleen,I feel the pain in your words... Truly, I feel the pain in your words and would so wish for you a happier and a brighter future with whomever you find that you love, that loves you in return... My best wishes to you my dear friend.

So many wait too long before they escape. Last sentence shows the brutality in this kind of relationship.
