“The worst sin towards animals

Is not to hate them,

But to be indifferent

To their suffering.”

George Bernard Shaw

Yet another very sad phone call

Another dumped dog, on the run

Forlornly racing along a busy road

Before long, his life would be done

By the time that I arrived at the road

Many human beings had ignored him

The odds were not in this dog’s favor

It was a rescue mission difficult to win

Every time anyone got close to him

We could see terror in his canine eyes

He had lost all his trust, in human beings

Racing in and out of traffic, he would die

A few of us finally jumped out of our vehicles

We soon began herding him, towards a factory

He quickly raced under a parked truck’s wheels

We finally had him cornered, nowhere left to flee

He was now trembling and shaking, uncontrollably

After quite some time, we put a lead around his neck

Once in my truck, we wrapped him in a warm blanket

This tiny terrified runner, was now heading to the vet’s

As the vet examined him, and we stroked his head

He began to calm down, so exhausted from his roam

Like each and every abandoned animal that we catch

We’ll try our best, to find ‘Runner’ a loving new home

Please Open Up Your Heart,

Over The Christmas Holidays;

There Are So Many Abandoned,

Abused, And Homeless Pets Today.

We had a runner once. One tiny crack in the door and out he'd go. He loved his home but he loved to roam. Patrick

If my neighbour downstairs were able to speak and read English i would share your work with her; she, too, is an exceptional soul who prepares each day a large fish (very large) for the stray cats and at dusk rounds them up in the park - I watch from my balcony - and feeds them...they all know her of course, she's signed a contract, and without her they'd be in a sorry state. Here, luckily, they don't have to suffer winter cold, but cold or not, she is special as you are, Ed.
In solidarity,

What a heartwrenching story. Have to tell you about a week ago there was scratching on our front door, thought it was our girls getting into mischief. The scratching continued so we walked out the back door and walked around the house until we got close to the front door. It was a scruffy little black and white dog, looked abandoned. I went back around to get a leash and put my girls in another room so we could bring him inside. No tags, no nothing, only a collar that was so tight Robert cut it off. We put him in a cage, in the car, got our girls and made the two hour trip to Denison to our vet to have him checked out. Told her he was just scratching on our door and was not sure what to do. He received a complete physical, blood tests, a shot for anemia, another for rabies. She offered to neuter him at no charge to us. He was in desperate need of a bath and hair cut, we told our vet we would take him over to the mall and get him cleaned up, then bring him back, which we did.
We can't keep him only because we found out the city will not allow us another dog or cat. Our vet took a few photo's of him, posted them and he is basically healthy and well behaved so adoptable. For the time being we will be paying for his boarding with the vet. In the meantime, we drove over to the Pet Spa where we take the girls as they are also a state recognized rescue. We showed the Pet Spa his photo, after he was bathed and clipped and they are in contact with our vet to take him in if he is not adopted in another week. Wish we could keep him, he is such a little ragamuffin. Well, not much, but it is one.

Be always safe,

All other crimes pale in comparisson to such cruelty, all other angels of help, are mere dwarf compared to you and you friends, for there is no renumeration, no medals, no money, but only the reward in your souls, animals don't speak human, unless we listen, very few will hear them. Those that do such things, their soul is deaf, their reward deaf and dumb in the next life. God bless you my friend! Jasmin Horst
