If
By La Belle Rouge

If I had come to you, when you asked me to
would it have been the right thing to do?
Would it have ended this ache in my heart?
Where, My Darling, do I dare to even start
to imagine what our lives might have become
when miles were bridged and we were one?
I ponder these questions deep down inside,
where after all these years, love yet abides
It’s too late now to touch and kiss your face
Nothing the piercing pain suffices to erase

If I had come to you when you asked me to
would the heavy weight of guilt stand true
or would perhaps, like verses blended well,
constancy of love pulled heaven from hell?
Would we have penned poetry for the ages?
Would kings and seers perused our pages?
Would we have found more joy in each day
What life might have been, no one can say

You tell me heaven sees, you say heaven knows
the sacrifice we make and how deep it goes
I’ve heard that heaven hears all our prayers
but sometimes I wonder if heaven really cares
Time inches on and the long nights grow cold
Once we both were young, now we grow old
Would being together our happiness ensued
if when you asked me to I had come to you?

Belle, Love carries so many unanswered questions...
Always trust your instincts and listen to your
heart. Beautifully written from your heart!

Temporal time is hard to redeem, Belle, but it does have a way of restoring what was intended in the long run, I believe. There's the mystery of an alchemical compost, perhaps, where love is involved! All will work and come together in ways we know not how - yet! Writing that is grounded in sound thinking and yet interlaced with emotions that overwhelm. As always, your work is a well-spring of life that comes from a pure source and we drink of its waters gratefully. xx

Such a gentle lament.
If, is such a sad word, unless it's used... ...if I will, yes I will.

Hells bells do I have so many ifs that I live to regret. As most do. It's all part of being human.

But if yer had, woulda yer have met me ;) and written such beautiful; classy poetry?

Ifs are in my rear view mirror. You have captured the loss so eloquently in your own, unique style. Kudos on this one.

What could be, If? Always a thought, when after a choice is made. You made a choice not to go, for whatever reason, it was the choice you had to make..Don't look back, just move forward..go to him now, why NOT? It's never too late when it comes to matters of the heart..Go Belle, be happy for the rest of your life,,,don't keep wondering "if" Lovely heartfelt poem...

Peace, love and light,
Amber

Your choice of subject is dear to so many. We all make choices in love and life that we must live with and often although these decisions may have been morally right, they could never negate or change the feelings that love brings. Bittersweet musings...

This poem has a universal voice, Belle, and anyone with even the smallest drop of blood left in the veins will know what you say and feel it within.

This is a beautiful piece...not intended as art nor as a centerpiece for poetry discussions that fuse into intent and curiosity, but rather, a question dominating your thoughts and coming straight from the heart. The mystery is in the answer
