"inspired by the poem "If" by La Belle Rouge

Slices of Time"

There are slices in time that float beyond the confines of the shore
Pieces of our lives that drift into the darkness of sacrificial night
The Creator may be the only one who knows its final destination
But we ourselves can never know the outcome of our pondering
For life is full of twists and turns and storms and unchecked winds
The surf rises unceremoniously and washes away those footprints
as if that slice of time had never existed or even made an impact
it is as if our ghosts lingered in an imagined world cold and distant
seconds become minutes, minutes become hours and hours days
time marches incessantly through and waits not by the garden gate
days become months and months become years and on and on
our bodies become but mere slaves to the clock and to the calendar
yet we think not of the spatial context of our lives in infinite space
as our world travels in its perfect and precise pace around this sun
our bodies crumble and fall prey to the sweep of the minute hand
but our hearts remain in that fraction of time that dictates a dream
our thoughts mingle with the flux of option and with choices made
pursuing the possibilities and reflecting on the concrete of decision
already set and well dried in place immovable as time passes by
but our dreams are liquid as mercury and are slow to evaporate
they run in the crevices and valleys of an aging unyielding earth
that eventually claims us to join and merge in the dust of its crust
yet we continue to drift in the relentless sea of curiosity and wonder
battered by the waves of day to day life occupying our little space
restricted not by the walls that surround us but by our own principles
hemmed in and trapped not by the barriers of distance and doubt
but by the honor of our word and those promises made long ago
to sacrifice a dream and a sliver of hope for what lies before us

ONLY AN AGED, WELL WORN PIECE OF LEATHER...CAN FULLY APPRECIATE THE 'GOLDEN DUST' WHICH 'DRIPS' FROM THIS EXCELLENT WORK. ONE HAS TO HAVE 'LIVED' IN ORDER TO IDENTIFY THE FACT THAT TIME AND HONOR...ARE ONE. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH....

a fluid distillation of thought that many will be grateful for, Amor. Although an almost quintessential facet of distanced love and universally felt, you have made the journey intensely personal with your far-reaching length of lines that signifies the lonely, on-going drift of miles the unrequited soul restlessly tramps along and endures. xx

Yes a materpiece as Linda has said..Amor, you certainly have a way with words and emotions..I love how you ended this poem, it is true, we make choices as to what our situation is at the moment. We must live with those choices and move on. No looking back. It may be time for new choices and then love could be redeemed.

This makes for a final statement to Belle's poem..very loudly heard.

Peace, love and light,
Amber
