LYING IN A MANGER
The precious baby boy
So many years ago
Lying in a manger
The moon outside aglow
With Mary sitting at His side
And Joseph by Him too
The oxen all did stir
A Heavenly King to pursue
On that fateful night
When our Lord was born
The shepherds in the fields
Early Christmas morn
The star that led them
Through the night
Was it an omen
It was a sight
The baby boy was sleeping
Warm and so brand new
Mary loved her baby
But in her heart she knew
Gabriel did speak
It was then that Mary knew
Your plan was set in place
From the look upon her face
When Your angel spoke to her
And the child was sound asleep
Mary knew this baby
Lying at her feet.

A good poem about the birth of Christ.
But have you wondered what it would be like in a stable.
Maybe the manger was the cattle drinking or eating trough.
It must have stunk like a farmyard only worse and possibly not even swept out or cleaned. Hmmm. bit like my flat. lol |
