My childhood Buddy got some bad news back in July - Chemo and Radiation are not working, so time is of the essence.
If you ever read my book, this is the guy who whopped me in the back of the head with a ham-bone! My Best Bud!

Buddy Wally retired in Orange City -
So I wrote him this here little Ditty.
On ‘Black Friday’ we left - Pat and I -
Seventy-Thirty AM - not a cloud in the Sky!
‘Silver Three’ - my 2007 Ford Fusion -
Was tremendously agile while Cruisin’
Set the Cruise Control at Nine Miles Above -
And we Zipped along - I was in Love!
Like a sure-footed Tiger he held the Road -
Unlike Ed Earnest, grumpy Ole Toad!
As the Directions were somewhat ‘Sketchy’
South of Jacksonville - got a tad Edgy!
Called Violet for more info, bur she didn’t Know -
One of the ‘Boys’ got on the Phone -
95 South, towards Daytona Beach - you’re Okay!
Go West at I-4 - he did Say.
Dumb Ole Me - forgot to Print a Map -
Almost Lost n’ Forlorn - what a Sap!
Called again when on I-4 -Take Exit 114 -
A Wiggle Here - n’ a Waggle There - just a little More!
Another Call when in Orange City -
Turn Right on Rhode Island - getting’ kinda’ Giddy!
Follow back ‘til road turns to Dirt -
Almost There - Feelin’ Pert!
Bumpity - Bumpity - Bumpity - Bump!
Silver down in Low Gear - by now, I’m a Grump!
Violet says ‘I See You’ - I’m out in the Road’
Parked there at ‘Sweet Adeline’ - out we Strode!
My, oh My - What an Ordeal -
Thirteen Plus Hours - Glued to the Wheel!
Nine PM - All was Well -
Hugs all around - It was Swell!
As Introductions occurred - all Around -
Donder, Dasher, Vixen n’ Blitzen -
Kimmy, Gino, Shirley n’ Brook - my head was A-Swhirl -
Mikey, Lonnie, ‘Lonesome’ George n’ Dog named ‘Girl’!
Well, Gang - not that we’re finally Here -
How come my hand doesn’t have - a really Cold Beer?
Kim to the Rescue - out to her Car -
Brung back some Beers from closest Bar!
What a Magnificent Home- Really Big!
After the Tour - out to the Patio for a Cig!
Christmas Decorations Everywhere -
Turkey Sammich was our Fare!
Hung out with Wally, on his Puter -
‘Til he exercised his ‘Tooter’ -
‘Texas Hold’Em’ is his Game -
‘Bout a Million Credits to his Name!
‘Unlimited’ betting was the Competition -
Guy on the right was full of Perdition -
Raising obnoxious amounts - he did a Lot -
That’s his Ploy - to ‘Steal’ the Pot!
Game started off with 1,500 Credits -
Wally warned me about watching ‘Debits’!
At first I didn’t do too Good -
But I learned fast - as I Should!
I always like to see the ‘Flop’ -
Cost me dearly - had to Stop.
About a half a ‘Sammich’ Later -
I was chewin’ ‘em up like a Gator!
At one point, down to only 300 or Such -
But I rebounded several times - gaining Much.
Next thing we Knowed - after a couple good ‘Hits’
Jumped up to over 3,000 ‘Bits.’
Players started dying off Fast -
Would these Good Cards Last?
Pair of ‘Bullets’ in the Hole -
Held back Raisin’ - Suck ‘em In - my Goal!
Pair of Jacks on the ‘Flop’ -
My Luck changed n’ wouldn’t Stop -
Third Ace turned on the ‘River’ -
Had a ‘Full Boat - well, Bless my Liver!
ALL IN - was my Call -
Some poor ‘Dummy’ didn’t Stall -
Wiped him Out - got a Big Pot -
Bonus earned - over 10,000 now - Quite a Lot!
Down now to only Two -
Greedy Guy on Right was in a Stew!
Needed a ‘Smoke’ or I’d Diminish!
Turned game over to Wally to Finish -
A little later, Results were In -
Wally came in Second - close call - mighty Thin -
But he was Happy with 50,000 Earned -
A Healthy Profit he had Turned!
Several cups of Java n’ a couple hours Passed -
Took a Shower - very tired - couldn’t Last -
Went to bed around Mid-Night -
Covers pulled up - oh so Tight.
Later awakened by Ed - ‘Sawing Logs ‘
Snorin’ like a Zillion Frogs!
Pat on left, then Chimed In -
A Duet Cacophony - What a Din!
Next morning, they said I was just as Bad -
But I didn’t hear me - n’ was - oh so Glad!
Violet and Kim were cooking up a Breakfast Feast -
While Coffee n’ Ciggies Soothed this Savage Beast!
Eggs, Bacon, Taters, n’ Buttered Toast -
This Gal’s Chow was the Most!
After, Wally took me outside on a Tour -
No better Hosts could do More!
Then, Kim brought ‘Ed’s Car’ Around -
“Here Mr. Tom - take a ride” was her Sound.
Pat, Gino, Brook, and Me scooted up and Down -
It was Fun - nary a Frown!
Next, while relaxing on the Patio -
The two kids fired up their bikes - not too Slow -
Rode them round and Round -
Revving them with deafening Sound!
George n’ Girl n’ Pat n’ Shirley n’ Me -
Gabbed a lot - stories ‘bout sights to See -
Meanwhile Violet cleaned Ed Up -
Ole ‘Road-Block’ was Happy as a Pup!
Sometimes they’re visited by various Critters -
Raccoons in trashcans seeking Vittles.
Occasionally they see Black Bears -
Excitingly they observe - with Scares n’ Stares!
Frogs, n’ Turtles. Newts n’ Lizards -
Gators on the road - eatin’ Gizzards!
Saturday mornin’ Wally n’ I -
Saw a Gang of Buzzards in the Sky!
Many perched way up in a Tree -
More Swoopin’ Down - lost count ‘round Thirty-Three!
Somethin’ Dead was on the Ground -
Or else these Vultures would not Abound!
‘The Boys’ had left early in the AM -
Softball Tournament to Attend -
To ‘Gemini Park’ we’d go - was the Plan -
They met us there - to the Man!
After parkin’ we did Stroll - Got the Gang together - took a Poll -

Palm Trees, Cypress Trees, n’ Colorful Flowers -
And relaxing, shady, leafy Bowers!
Whole gang left the Park around Four Pm or So -
To Publix for Food Shopping we did Go -
I waited in the car while the three ‘Gals’ went In -
When done - car wouldn’t Start - Oh what a Sin!

|Great you go to go on a visit to see your good friend, this Christmas, sounds like it was filled with merryment and good things.
Prayers will go out for his health and yours also. You are such a good true friend to all.

|I am so sorry that your friend is not doing well, but
this is a FABULOUS TRIBUTE !! What a tale !! Know he's getting a

|I hate agreeing with that old Jersey Devil on anything, but here I find myself agreeing with him twice:
1) Are you sure you ain't a politician? - long winded, indeed!
2) And like him, I also love long drives - I often drive way up to Canada, out to the Rockies, down to New Orleans, and even down to New Mexico - much, much better than flyin, especially these days.
And glad to hear you had a good time, and a good reunion.

|Cuz, I cannot imagine why you dislike politicians as you are as long winded as they are...LOL, though it sounds you had a great time, personally I would have loved the drive, love those long drives...take care of yourself buddy, maybe during the holidays we can meet up somewhere...Rene says Hi...ed|
