I really have to stop watching television,

Society idolizes the wrong people today;

With all the abused dogs we are finding,

This really sickens me, in so many ways.

“I really think it’s time

For me and my family

To get another dog.

I really miss them.”

Michael Vick

I just couldn’t believe my ears

When he said that in an interview

He was convicted of animal cruelty

This ‘celebrity’ makes me want to puke

He owned, and he operated, a dog fighting ring

He starved, and tortured, and electrocuted them

Because of so many people, just like this NFL ‘Star’

Animal Cruelty in our misguided nation, will never end

He should never have been allowed, to play pro football again

He should never have been allowed, to be a hero for our children

Permitting him to have another dog, should never, ever, be allowed

And, I hope his ‘celebrity status’ doesn’t make our authorities cave in

As I sadly observe what’s happening in our misguided nation, today

I can’t believe the types of human beings we teach our kids to admire

And, as I receive yet another phone call about a dying dog in an alley

My sadness and anger erupt once more, over his ‘I want a dog’ desire

I can’t even count the number of abused dogs we find these days

So many of them tortured by dog fighters, and then, tossed like trash

Most of them starving, and now, so deathly afraid of we human beings

As I sadly put another one in my truck, my faith in mankind is fading fast

It sickens me to think of an innocent creature looking to such a guilty one for its needs. Powerful poem Ed, keep speaking truth.

I know Bro, ain't it always about the money? Not only for him, but the owners and the networks as well. Everybody knows Vick is slimey, and Mike Tyson says he's normal now too. Go figure how people can have such short memories.
Then again, people can change..........

Merry Christmas Ed

Sadly, but who's to stop him from purchasing a dog? I agree in all you say about this human disgrace. But, really, who's to stop him? Who is there to "not permit him?" Even if he rescues one, is Michael Vick's picture hanging upon the wall at his local dog pound. Sadly, who's to stop him from getting another dog?

I had wondered about why, as a human society, we need so much star admiration, and sycophants, that follow by the millions.
We were protesting Star power the other day, celebrating the opening of an event with the cruelty of Foi gras. When later our concerns and effort were shown on TV, Star power again Poo Pooed us, this time journalists and reporters, we had the same results about abused dogs, puppy mills, etc.
The trouble is they are stars, long before we know their attitudes toward many things, their popularity, sways many a mind, especially the young, and there are despite many real wonderful stars, a great many that espouse only to the worst of greed and it's success, no matter what the means; Mind you, there are some real precious heros out there, that show a light, a much needed one, wish we had many more of them. If Vick, would, show the world, a different site of himself, for we all have it in us, don't we, say the good site, and promote his new pet in a new light, I'd say let him, I always believe in second chances, keep an eye on him, and if he screws up again, double his jail time, and fine him a few million more. I understand your and my frustration Ed, for we are trying to help.
You are a Angel, a special Very Merry Christmas to you and a Happy New Year! and of course the warrior and pets too!

Mr. Ed,
I know how you feel. I feel for them, especially in the winter when its so cold out and harder to find food. I have a precious little dog and just the thought of him being abused sickens me. Thank you Ed, for calling attention to these abandoned souls.

Blessings,
~Linda
