It was obvious that this sweet cat had been once cared for as she trusted us to help her

Noel came to adopt us for a bit,

She came without a name,

But came with desperate need.

Noel was so very skinny,

And oh so hungry, too.

She ate and ate then purred her gratitude,

Curling up by the heater to sleep.

Within a day she ruled the house,

Put the dogs in their place,

And picked her spot,

Keeping the other cats in theirs.

Noel only stayed a few days,

But long enough to create a bond.

She was just too thin I am afraid,

For noel passed on and I am sorry to her,

For humanities cruel neglect.

Far too much human cruelty towards animals, these very sad days, and not enough caring human beings like yourself. If she adopted you, little Noel knew where to go for help. So sorry for your loss.

I've often thought about human cruelty and stupidity, often thought
that we're living in a new Dark Ages.

I hope Noel is now an Aristocat in the Palace of Well-Fed Kitties!

Merry Xmas, Karen!

This is so heartbreaking. I was hoping at first she would become yours. But the last stanza is so full of cruel reality. I'm sorry for your terrible loss and what would have been a wonderful friendship.
