A poem about coeliac disease

My doctor told me I had coeliac disease
I asked, could you tell me, what is that please
He said, it is a disorder of the small intestine
which is caused by an allergy to gluten, a protien

It causes inflamation and flattens your villi
but the doctors are not really quite sure why
Gluten is found in wheat, oats, barley and rye
to these foods i'm afraid you'll have to say goodbye

Obvious foods are cakes, biscuits, pasta and bread
but check carefully for gluten in sauses and spreads
If you follow a strict gluten free diet
i'm sure your symptoms will stay hidden and quiet
