Did you see the Rose Parade in all its floral glory?
The sun on the mountains, the chill in the air,
Dazzled spectators, beaming?
Give Mother Nature a day, and she can change all that.
With little warning except the normal storm watch,
The snow begins to fall in fat, fluffy flakes.
We gazed with wonder out the window,
Ventured out to taste the snow on the tips of our tongues,
Fingers freezing (who owns mittens here?)
What joyous dancing, sliding, shivering kids
The adults became as snowflakes turned our New Year's
Into a playland, unless you were on the freeway and stuck.
