Good Grief!
At times my heart is heavy
For tasks at which I’ve failed;
For kids I couldn’t teach to read
For those who ended jailed.

Good Grief
Many are they I’ve helped a long
To woman and manhood.
I laugh recalling moments
When I did the best I could.

My one biggest regret in life was that I didn't because of financial and family committments I didn't become a teacher as I had wanted to be when I was young. I am retired now but spend two mornings a week at my granddaughters school helping out with reading and in the classroom and so glad for the opportunity it has given me to see just a small glimplse of what being a teacher would have been.

Teaching is the most thankless, rewarding profession a person can enter. Great poem, Regis.
