The three of us in this room:
mother, father, child -
that's me
I sit here with them and
I don't know
I don't know what to do with this
longing
in this room
this longing to be heard,
to explain myself as best I can
as to who I am today
and right this very...
...moment.

"I'm still curious,
still little,
and a little unsure,
a gin and tonic girl."

You heard me.

And so we sit here...
and we keep talking, talking, talking
and I keep talking
to them
at them
and my words...
...the subtext
ricochets off the ears
of these two eavesdroppers
in this room
known to me as
Mom and Dad
as we go on pretending that
"not good enough"
started with me
and not with them.
