I spent 2 hours writing at the desk

In David’s quiet office at his house

The next day client’s proposal printed out

Through borrowed port and patent “hairy mouse”*

And when my work appeared from printer slot

Some font or software problem made a change

A tiny glitch that looked at now seems strange

A subtle message inked on every page

My “©Jim H” has changed a bit

A tiny heart replacing circled C

The shouted “These words here are not for free”

Now whispers “love from Jim” and that’s more me.
