This poem by Dr Audrey Coatesworth, a retired psychiatrist, talks to teenagers about the ravages to health caused by excessive alcohol. She asks the question 'who will look after you?' when these health problems occur - as, with excessive alcohol intake, they most surely will.

Who will look after you?

Who will look after you

When you are unwell?

As that fate is certain

In truth - I can tell

If you continue

Your lifestyle to live

Then only yourself

Will you have to forgive

Your diet of alcohol

Drunk in excess

Will damage your liver

Or more - nothing less

Sickness and nausea

All the day through

Itching incessantly

In store for you

Call it by any name

To the brain can be dire

The effects all the same

Being paranoid ruins

Friendships and life

Schizophrenia brings

Just dreadful strife

Unless you prepare

No one will be there

With skills to help

Your pain to bear

By then, we shall all

Have died and gone

But yet your damage

Will have been done

Your choice, your life

Who am I to say?

What you should do

All must choose their way

But just take a moment

Give yourself a clear view

Thirty years have passed

Who looks after you?

( I am being optimistic with 'thirty years)

A powerful message written in a style accessible to teenagers."Your life, your choice" has been used successfully in poster campaigns and will hopefully have a familiarity and resonate with the reader.

I admire you for your dedication to the teenagers. Unfortunately, most teens think they know all the answers and won't listen. If you can get through to one teenager than your fight is not in vain. God bless you for your work.

Many blessings,
