Political Rhetoric!

T’was just yesterday That
I listened to CNN -
The Donkeys n’ Pachyderms
Debatin’ their Wherefores, Whys, n’ When!

A Constitutional Amendment
Someone did Propose -
For a Federal Balanced Budget
The Stench of it did Burn my Nose!

A Million good reasons Why
There should be ‘Yeas’ -
Then, another Million
Of contrasting ‘Nays!’

The ‘flow’ was strong of - Effluence
Immaterial n’ intangible Influence - did Spew -
Instead of Oral Cavities - Methinks the Bowels
Were used by quite a Few!

Congressional Budget Office Director
Gave his Report -
Then, Congresspersons
Did him Retort!

What was next on the Agenda?
Can you Surmise?
Pros n’ Cons on Obama’s Speech
More Political Rhetoric - Sa-Prise - Sa-Prise!

‘He said - She said ...’
Let’s Tally-Up the Score -
H-S and Bull-Crap
More! More! MORE!

Argue - Debate - Juggle
All the Pros n’ Cons -
Get Nothing Done
These Congressional Madams n’ Dons!

Disrupt - Disturb - Destroy
That is What they do Best -
Brow-Beat - Blow-Hard - Back-Lash
Table - Defer - Avoid ... is their Behest!

Our ‘so-called’ Representatives
Yet - Who or What do they Represent?
Corporations - Companies - Millionaires
For Them they are Hell-Bent!

Listen my Children
And you shall Hear -
Of that which Congress
Does Not Revere!

The Common Man -
‘We The People’
Are surely sorely Shorn
Just like ‘Sheeple!’

Alas and Alack!
You may Say -
Just eat your Bone
And - Stay - Stay - STAY!

Define this Term -
Political Rhetoric -
Fine-Sounding, but Insincere, Empty Language
Persuasive ‘Poppy-Cock’ - to the Quick!

Am I too Harsh?
Do Not Dismay -
‘They’ have the Means
To Bar Your Way!

“Tighten your Belts!”
“Times are Tough!”
“We’ll keep the Silk”
“You keep the Rough!”

“Re-Elect Us!”
“We’ll Do Gooder!”
“Trust Us!”
“You Dumb Cannon-Fodder!”

Why, Oh Why
Do I show such Dis-Respect?
‘Cause It’s the Truth
So - What the Heck?
