Alone with private thought,

Alone with past battles fought,

Loneliness he has through life sought,

Never by love has he been ever caught…

Solitude does this seagull seek,

Very little speech comes from his beak,

He prefers to be living life solo,

No one else to of his decisions critique…

Eats does he alone,

Rarely leaving his home,

Sleeps as well but prone,

Never wishing to of his life bemoan…

When he does travel,

He does so & speaks to himself,

His life does at times, unravel,

He lives for now till the day he is buried in gravel…

Relative peace he has acquired,

Nothing more has he desired,

A mate he has so far not required,

Though of others relationships, he has admired…

As a native of the Atlantic coast of Canada I grew up to the sight and sounds of the seaguls. They are considered a nusiance and messy by some but I love to watch them and they do keep the beaches and waterfront free of garbage. So to all things there is a purpose.

What? You never read Jonathan Livingston Seagull? He led a pretty adventurous life, as I recall. Nice write, picture too.
