Grass Roots

I’m ignoble and looked down upon

by the proud and lofty.

These have no time for people like me.

To them, I’m unlettered and sloppy.

I have no time for them either.

I take disrespect from no one!

Life is too short to tolerate such.

God is the only person who gets my reverential fear.

I’m not underneath anybody’s badge.

Our Creator makes people who they are.

Uniforms are made by human beings.

Death overtakes the common man and the superstar.

Know that I don’t eat caviar.

What I prefer is Macaroni and Cheese.

Some of the best cheese comes in government boxes.

Certain ones know just what I’m talking about.

I don’t hate on anybody’s success.

I just can’t stand it when people forget where they came from.

Always remember those who love you for you.

They are going to be there for you when the popularity subsides.

Dirt can always be found on my hands,

Simply because I will never abandon the concept of grass roots.

My fellow man will always be my equal

regardless of how much money I make

or what things I achieve in life.

Write on! Truly Work makes a man noble, and work gives one Dignity.
We are all from dust and to dust we all return, all the wealth and gold in this world cannot stop that when it's time to go. I like the frankness of your poetry, and the vivid truth behind the lines, and most of all - I like simple but honest words.
