This was written when I lived in New Orleans and inspired by someone I used to work with...she was a young mother with an unbelievable work ethic. It was something I wrote as an inspiration piece dedicated to her.

At thirteen she got pregnant.
At eighteen she graduated-
Now in 2001 she looks back wondering how she made it.

She is working a full-time job.
A single mother trying to make ends meet-
Many women in her shoes would throw their hands up in defeat.

But not this mother,
She is a 504 girl determined to succeed.
And when she looks into her baby’s eyes that’s all the encouragement she needs.

This mother is from N’awlins.
Huh, from where else could she be-
Not only did this mother make her child, but her child made her lovely.
