“An animal’s eyes

Have the power

To speak a great language.”

Martin Buber

Yet one more ‘throw-away’ canine

Such fear and loneliness in his eyes

We have named him ‘Little Roscoe’

And his plight makes me want to cry

He was found, shivering in the cold

He had been all alone, for some time

A frightened, abandoned, young dog

What was done to him, a hideous crime

No tags, micro-chip, or collar

Tossed out, to fend for himself

Homeless, starving, so all alone

Yet another ‘left behind’ in hell

He should be romping and playing

Every young pup deserves some joy

But only sadness and fear fill his eyes

We want to find happiness for this boy

I wrote about his plight in our newspaper

Hoping a compassionate soul will step up

Every dog deserves a home and some love

We are determined to find both, for this pup

There are so many dogs just like Little Roscoe,

At all of the crowded animal shelters, near you;

They are all searching for someone to love them,

Will you help us alleviate one of these dogs’ blues?

Sad Ed. But did you ever notice they all have sad eyes. We had a black lab. She looked at you with pleading eyes as if she were mistreated but she was well fed and loved. I miss that old dog.
God bless,
Lew

I know Ed, but learned a long time ago we can only do so much. I have started recently working with the Pet Spa where I take the girls. They also operate a rescue. I volunteer to clean up the barn, pond and the grounds in general for the horses, donkeys, dogs, cats, sheep, goats, ducks, you name it they retrieve it. It has really been an eye opener to see for myself the cruelty of some people and the total disregard. I have watched on television vis the Animal Planet for some time, but it really hits home when you see it up close in person. Keep hope in your heart...

Be always safe,
Karen

Out he went when they tired of him
or couldn't afford to keeep him or...
does it really matter?
whatever the circumstance,
many of us are cruel and heartless and that's that..
Thank you, Ed.

Tears always fall when I read your compassionate poems. I pray that little Roscoe gets a home very soon. Keep on doing what you are doing. One day you won't have to work so hard at this.

Much peace, love and light to you dear Ed,
Amber
