minutes crashing by my ears
to burn and die in his memory
a battering ram against my chest
the sound of his voice
now a reference to the past
he played it oh so well
the chords that strung my heart
from the wall by his bed
next to your exposed surfboard
strung me up and played
the strings of this game
I'll never be the same

Rosa here we go
this insane bucking ride
across the ridges of his mind
only to find ourselves both
trophies on his wall
something to look at
in the middle of sex
he lifts his chin
his eyes rolling back
lips parting, chest rumbling
with a loud groan
you know that sound well
don't you
so do I
he looks up at you
and what he doesn't realize
is that it's me
staring back at him
as he plays his game
I'll never be the same

Rosa, arm in arm
here we go
walking away as silently
as we can, escape
calling to us like the ocean
let's ride this wave baby
let's ride it clear out of town
out of earth, out of life
Rosa, pull me onto your surfboard
and we'll fly far away from here
over my shoulder I watch
as the lies grow small
in the distance
my arm around her waist
Rosa won't play your games
but I'll never be the same.

To understand this reference you have to be a Pixies fan.

Someone shoot me.

Hmmm...I wanted to give it less than a 10 because "minutes crashing by my ears" seems to mean...well...nothing. Unless there's an implied watch or something. But then I got down to the end where you explain that the poem is a Pixies reference. Realizing that the very typing and publishing of those words kinda makes you a dork, you ask to be shot.

That moment of truth is where you grabbed me. 10.
